RAPPAHANNOCK – Available details are few after a woman was found dead by a postal worker in a village near Girardville Monday afternoon.

State troopers and Butler Township police have been at the scene on Rapp Road in Butler Township since around 1:00pm this afternoon.

Authorities were called to 21 Rapp Road around 1:00pm, when a postal worker found the body of a woman, who has not yet been identified. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Andrew J. Szczyglak.”The police are still processing the scene,” Szczyglak said around 6:00pm this afternoon, declining to provide further information.

The police investigation centers on an area near where a Reading, Blue Mountain, and Northern Railroad branch line crosses Rapp Road.

Troopers at the scene declined to provide information, and a call and email to Trooper David Beohm, Troop L Public Information Officer, were not immediately returned.

A media release just before 11:00pm Monday said a 30-year-old woman was found dead at the scene. Her name will be released upon notification of next of kin, troopers said.

The Troop L Major Case Team is investigating, and an autopsy will be conducted on the victim.
