Ashland Area Community Choir performs in Lavelle

LAVELLE – For many attendees, it was standing room only as the 50-member Ashland Area Community Choir performed their Christmas Presence event at Lavelle’s Church of the Nazarene on Saturday.

The choir was under the direction of Bruce McCormick with a piano accompaniment by Betty Chappell.

Also featured in the concert was the Jersulaem Lutheran Bell Choir from Schuylkill Haven and its eight members.

The choir performed a variety of Christmas songs, including Deck the Halls, Jingle Bell Rock, and Ring Out, Ye Bells.

The majority of choir members hail from northern Schuylkill County, with 16 members from Ashland, two from Girardville, three from Ringtown, one from Locustdale, three from Gordon, five from Frackville, one from Zion Grove, three from Lavelle, and one from Mahanoy City.
