BARNESVILLE – Our region has yet another Dollar General, this time in the village of Barnesville.

Across northern Schuylkill, Greater Tamaqua, and the Mount Carmel area, the national chain now has seven locations, the others being Shenandoah, Ashland, Mahanoy City, Mount Carmel, Tamaqua, McAdoo. North of the county line, in the city of Hazleton and immediate surrounding area, there are four.

The new location, at 700 Barnesville Drive, opened recently and on Saturday, a grand opening celebration will be held beginning at 8:00am, which will include giveaways and other promotions.

The first 50 adult shoppers will receive a $10 store gift card, and the first 200 will get a tote bag with product samples.

Dollar General stores usually employ about six to ten people, and the store carries a wide variety of items ranging from clothes to household items to food items.
