Bloom grad from Mt. Carmel recognized

BLOOMSBURG, Columbia County – A recent Bloomsburg graduate from Mt. Carmel received several recognitions for his work, the university announced today.

Bryson Purcell, of Mt. Carmel, recently graduated from Bloomsburg’s College Student Affairs master’s program. In March, he was recognized with the Regional Outstanding Graduate Student Leadership Award by the National Orientation Directors Association at its Region 8 Conference in Virginia.

The award, the university said, is designed to give special recognition to graduate students for their contributions to their campus orientation program, staff success, creativity and outstanding abilities.

A Bloomsburg professional staff member nominated Purcell for the award.

Purcell also received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award from the Commission for Student Involvement. The award recognizes the international and local impact of a recipients efforts to enhance the student experience. He, along with other award recipients, was recognized at the 2019 ACPA Awards Reception in Boston, Massachusetts.

Purcell received his undergraduate degree in information and technology management from the school in 2017, then enrolled in the CSA program. he hopes to work in enrollment management at a college or university.
