Car, UPS truck collide in Girardville Wednesday

GIRARDVILLE – A portion of East Mahanoy Avenue in Girardville was closed for about an hour yesterday, after a Kia collided with a UPS truck near Rappahannock.

The crash occurred just before 2:30pm Wednesday in the area of 705 East Mahanoy Avenue, when a head-on collision occurred between a circa 2003 Kia Sportage and a UPS delivery truck.

Firefighters from both Girardville fire companies, Shenandoah Ambulance, and Ashland’s Washington Ambulance responded to the scene.

Troopers from the State Police at Frackville were at the scene investigating, and no further information was available as of 5:00pm Thursday. 

The driver of the Kia was checked by emergency medical staff at the crash scene, but was not transported.

The Kia suffered disabling damage and was towed from the scene by A&F Automotive, Lavelle.
