MAHANOY CITY – The Citizens Fire Company of Mahanoy City hosted its annual car cruise and show on Saturday, bringing out roughly 35 vehicles ranging in year from the 1920s to 2018.

Participating vehicles lined up along Centre Street and in the parking lot across from the fire company for judging, until the cruise began at 2:30pm, led by fire apparatus from the Citizens.

The cruise looped the borough twice before returning to the fire company for the announcement of awards.

Participating vehicles ranged from modern imports and sedans to classic street rods, lifted pick-ups to Corvettes, and more.

Food vendors were on hand, as were stands participating in an indoor yard sale held in the station during the event.

Among those participating in the indoor yard sale was a group from First United Methodist Church in Mahanoy City.

Also present at the event were members of the Schuylkill Historical Fire Society, selling shirts and other items, distributing information, and displaying the 1958 American LaFrance aerial acquired from Ashland in January. The aerial won the event’s first place award for antique fire apparatus.

50/50 tickets were sold as well, and Catawissa Street was closed as a bounce house was set up.
