MAHANOY CITY – Just before 9:30pm Tuesday, Mahanoy City police officers recovered a stolen vehicle, and arrested a woman accused of taking the vehicle.

The theft occurred between 2am and 9am Saturday, when the vehicle, a 2004 Honda Pilot, was taken from the 100 block of East Pine Street

Officers charged Mari Powell, 21, of Parker, Colorado, with felony Theft by Unlawful Taking, Receiving Stolen Property, and misdemeanor Unauthorized Use of an Automobile.

“This investigation and its timely conclusion would not have been possible without the assistance of the public,” said Chief Kenneth Zipovsky. “This is a fine example of the partnership that the Mahanoy City Police Department has fostered with the community- and its benefits.  This partnership allows the MCPD to complete its mission, and makes a safer community.”

Powell was arraigned and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of bail.
