Community Day, town-wide yard sale set for July 13 in Mahanoy

MAHANOY CITY – Mahanoy City will host their annual Community Day festivities from 10-4 pm Saturday, July 13, as well as the simultaneous town-wide yard sale.

This year is shaping up to be bigger and better with vendors and activities scheduled to line several blocks of East and West Centre Street as well as South Main Street.

Vendors this year include Brenda Rutko, Pampered Chef; James Reitnour, Mahanoy City Womens’ Club, baked goods; Elaine Hydock, crafts; J&J jewelry; Mahanoy City Tree Lighting Committee, 2019 Christmas ornaments; Arlene Donato, crafts; Mahanoy City Public Library, book bag sale, Taja Dixon, herbs, plants, and spice blends; Matt Heckman; St. Teresa of Calcutta, bleenies, funnel cake, and baked goods; West End Fire & Rescue; and Humane Fire Company.

Local businesses are also expected to set up tables featuring a sampling of their food and products for sale.

Activities include a dunk tank featuring local celebrities and a bounce house.

There will be a DJ setting the tone for this festive summer family friendly gathering. The Mahanoy Area High School and Elementary School Bands will also perform for the crowd.

For Mahanoy City memorabilia collectors and beer fans, bricks from the original Kaier’s Brewery will be on sale. There is a limited number of bricks available and each brick will come with a certificate of authenticity.

In addition to Community Day, July 13 will also be the day of the town-wide Yard Sale. Many residents have signed up to participate and maps will be available downtown listing vendors and yard sales.

There is still time to register as a vendor for Community Day or to be part of the Yard Sale. Forms are available at Borough Hall. Vendor spots are $10 per table and Yard Sale participation is $5.

The rain date for Community Day will be 11-4pm on Sunday, July 14​.
