E. Union crash injures Ringtown man

EAST UNION TOWNSHIP – A Ringtown man is in the Geisinger Medical Center in Montour County following a single car crash in East Union Township,near Sheppton Saturday morning.

According to State Police at Frackville, Michael Heiler, 58, of Ringtown was travelling south on PA Route 924, when he experienced a medical emergency around 6:30am, causing him and his 2009 Chevrolet Silverado to miss a right hand turn roughly half a mile past Mountain Road in Sheppton.

Heiler then struck a guiderail, continuing 50 feet down an embankment, coming to rest in the trees.

Heiler suffered moderate injuries and was transported via Shenandoah Ambulance to an awaiting MedEvac 7 helicopter in Sheppton, which transported him to Danville’s Geisinger Medical Center.

Sheppton-Oneida and Nuremberg-Weston fire assisted at both the crash scene and landing zone, and Allen Stauffer’s Towing removed the vehicle.
