ASHLAND - Shortly before 7:00am Friday, Ashland firefighters were dispatched to 1237 Arch Street in the borough for a reported structure fire.

A second alarm was called when firefighters arrived, as flames could be seen across the borough, according to photos posted to Schuylkill County Firewire.

All occupants got out safely, and a passerby reportedly assisted the family in escaping.

Firefighters from across northern Schuylkill County and southern Northumberland County responded to the scene, including crews from Gordon, Frackville, Girardville, and Mount Carmel.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.

A State Police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
