Electrical fire prompts short evacuation at Shenandoah Manor

SHENANDOAH – Around 9:45am Saturday morning, fire crews from Shenandoah and Mahanoy City were dispatched to the Shenandoah Senior Living Community (previously the Shenandoah Manor), 101 East Washington Street, for reports of an electrical fire.

According to radio communications, crews arrived to find a ceiling fan fire in the ‘Yellow’ Wing which was quickly extinguished.

EMS crews and Mahanoy City’s Rescue 993 assisted employees at the facility in evacuating residents to another wing of the building while fire crews extinguished the fire.

By 10:10am, the fire had been extinguished, and fire crews were clear of the scene.

Crews from all five Shenandoah fire companies, as well as Mahanoy City’s West End responded to the incident.
