Fire damages Ashland home

ASHLAND – An early morning fire damaged a home in the borough of Ashland today.

Just after 1:00am, firefighters were called to a home at 11 North Eleventh Street for reports of a fire, and shortly after crews arrived, a second alarm was struck.

Fire was found in the basement of the home, which crews had extinguished by 2:00am. Firefighters remained on scene for about another hour, with the last fire crews clearing the scene around 3:17am.

Three residents who lived in the home are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Assisting Ashland firefighters at the scene were firefighters from Mount Carmel, Girardville, Gordon, Altamont, and Englewood, along with Ashland EMS, Ashland Police, Ashland Fire Police, Gordon Fire Police and Mount Carmel Fire Police. UGI and PP&L crews were also at the scene.
