Fire damages storage trailer in Shenandoah

SHENANDOAH – Borough firefighters made quick work of a fire at a storage trailer behind the former Pennsylvania Railroad depot on South Main Street Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched to the area of 415 South Main Street just after 2:00pm for the incident.

Crews arrived to find fire beneath a storage trailer on the property of the former Pennsylvania Railroad depot, spreading to the trailer and endangering the depot building itself.

Drums of an unknown substance, stored in the trailer, reportedly caught fire as well, according to radio transmissions.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down within about 10 minutes, though firefighters remained on scene for a short time after.

Firefighters from Shenandoah’s Columbia, Rescue Hook & Ladder, Phoenix, and Defender fire companies responded as well as Shenandoah Fire Police, Shenandoah Ambulance, West Mahanoy Township Police, and PA State Police.
