SHENANDOAH – A fire engine returning from training at Shenandoah Valley High School clipped two parked vehicles when an oncoming vehicle traveled close to the double yellow line on West Centre Street Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred around 7:40pm and brought the roadway down to one lane between Chestnut and Gilbert Streets for about 15 minutes.

The Defender Fire Company’s Engine 64-11 suffered minor damage when the truck overcorrected while trying to make room for oncoming traffic, according to Shenandoah Police.

Two parked vehicles near West Centre and Gilbert Streets also suffered minor damage as a result.

Fire crews from the Rescue, Hook & Ladder and Polish American Fire Companies, also returning from the SV training, stopped at the scene and assisted with traffic control.

Crews were clear of the scene by 8:00pm.
