Four displaced in Gilberton fire

GILBERTON – Four are displaced following an early morning fire in the borough of Gilberton on Monday.

Around 2am, fire crews from Gilberton, Shenandoah, Frackville, Englewood, and Mahanoy City were called to a single home at 14 Draper Street. 

Arriving crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the residence.

Water issues brought a tanker task force to the scene, consisting of units from Shenandoah, Gordon, Ryan Township, and Fountain Springs. 

By 4:30am, most fire crews were clear of the scene.

Frackville EMS treated one person for minor burns, and the American Red Cross is assisting the four occupants of the residence.

In total, emergency crews from Gilberton, Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, Ashland, Frackville, Englewood, Ryan Township, and Fountain Springs responded to the incident.
