FRACKVILLE – About 50 people came out to a benefit Saturday evening to support the victims of the February blaze in Ashland, organized by the Frackville Elks in cooperation with the Ashland Elks.

Jaclyn Yanchulis, Tiler at the Frackville Elks, organized the event, which was held at the lodge in Frackville.

“I felt that we needed to do something for the community, and that’s why we’re having this event tonight,” said Yanchulis.

The event featured live entertainment from Sakes Alive and DJ Mike Goodman, as well as a basket auction. Local residents and businesses far and wide donated to the cause, both for the auction and the food and refreshments served at the event.

Asked why organize the event, Yanchulis said it’s what she hopes the community would do if she was ever in a similar position.

Nearly 30 were displaced by the blaze on February 21 on Brock Street.
