FRACKVILLE – On Wednesday, Nov. 15, Senator David G. Argall (R-29, Schuylkill/Berks), alongside Representatives Mike Tobash (R-125, Schuylkill/Dauphin) and Neal Goodman (D-123, Schuylkill) announced a $200,000 grant towards Frackville’s pool rehabilitation, and $56,000 grant towards the rehabilitation of Trenton Park, among two others benefiting community improvement projects in Schuylkill County.

The grants, were awarded as part of the Commonwealth Finance Authority’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.

In Frackville, the funds will be used to rehabilitate the Frackville Community Pool located at Memorial Park.

In Trenton, the funding will be used to rehabilitate the 2.8 acre Trenton Park recreational facility, which includes a playground and basketball courts.

Also announced Wednesday were grants to study the feasibility of continuing the Schuylkill River Trail, which recently opened in North Manheim Township, as well as to replace the Swopes Valley Road Bridge in Pine Grove Township, and make subsequent improvements to the intersection just west of State Route 645.

“I’m extremely pleased our municipalities were chosen for this funding,” Goodman said in a press release.  “Competition for these grants is fierce, with hundreds of applicants statewide.  I’m also pleased the state is able to assist these important projects and look forward to seeing the improvements to Delano’s Trenton Park, as well as the future reopening of the Frackville Community Pool.”

“All of these projects were subject to competition from communities all across the state,” Argall said. “We are very satisfied to see the hard work of many individuals pay off and be recognized by the state to help with an upgrade to the park in Trenton, major rehabilitation of a community pool in Frackville, upgrades to a bridge and intersection in Pine Grove Township and plans for a continuation of a trail in North Manheim Township.”
