GIRARDVILLE – Road Closed No More. The 200 Block of North Second Street has reopened, after borough officials demolished a collapsing property at 205 North Second Street. The street had been closed since January.

The building was demolished on Wednesday, after borough officials and the property owner, Will Schultz, Ashland, signed an agreement allowing the borough to demolish the property, with Schultz paying the cost of demolition at a later date.

In March, Schultz launched a GoFundMe to attempt to cover the costs, stating “”I can’t afford to do anything and the fines keep mounting. They say I have to take that up with the owner next door. He has since filed bankruptcy so I can’t go after him.  To make matters worse, I have been laid off from my job the beginning of January. There is nothing I can do at this point and I am about to be put in jail if the building isn’t down in a month to 60 days.”
