SHENANDOAH – A heater activation drew the response of Shenandoah firefighters to a downtown business Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 15 South Main Street for a reported building fire just after 3:00pm.

According to Shenandoah fire officials, heater technicians were at the store to set the heating system up for the winter, and, when the heater was turned on, it activated the fire alarms.

No actual fire was present, and firefighters were clear of the scene within about half an hour.

Responding to the scene were firefighters from the Shenandoah Fire Department and Mahanoy City’s West End Fire Company, as well as Shenandoah and Frackville Ambulance, Shenandoah Police and Fire Police, and Pennsylvania State Police.
