Miners rout Devils, 49-7, on senior night

SHENANDOAH – A single run kept Shenandoah Valley from being shut out by the Battlin’ Miners Friday night in the penultimate game of the regular season.

The diving score by Devils #10 Johnny Chinchay came with 5:40 remaining in the first, cutting into Minersville’s 21 point lead to create a 21-7 game.

​In the second half, Minersville would run away with the game in the second half, more than doubling their score to defeat Shenandoah 49-7, improving to 4-5 on the season, while Shenandoah will travel to 4-5 Mahanoy Area on the verge of a winless season.

Prior to the game, seniors in Shenandoah Valley’s football, band, and cheerleading programs were recognized before taking the field at Veterans Memorial Stadium for the final time.

The seniors were accompanied by parents, guardians, relatives, or other influential persons as they walked midfield through a column of band members.
