SHENANDOAH – One of Shenandoah’s three “Kielbasi Kings” began the New Year closed, but this week, it re-opened, kicking off the new year with contests and giveaways.

Kowalonek’s reopened their 332 South Main Street store on Tuesday, January 16, but the business invited customers in today as they sold kielbasi chipsteak hoagies and sandwiches, while giving away a reusable bag to every customer.

“We’re giving away a reusable bag to every customer, and we’re also doing random prize drawings. Every customer is eligible for a prize,” said Jessica Hannis, store manager.

The store was closed for renovations, as new flooring was installed and room was made for a new smokehouse.

“We’re getting a new smokehouse in the spring… we did new flooring from door to door, put some new paint up, just a little bit of a refresher,” Hannis added.

The store had been closed since New Year’s Eve, since the flooring installation required all items be removed from the building, according to Hannis.
