MAHANOY CITY – Mahanoy Area held its homecoming festivities Friday night, including a parade through town prior to the football game, and, at halftime, they crowned their 2019 homecoming queen.

Riding in sports cars, classic cars, and trucks, the candidates and their escorts paraded through Mahanoy City around 5:00pm, joined by the band, youth football and cheerleading organizations, and fire department.

On hand for the ceremony as well was 2019 graduate and 2018 homecoming queen Meredith Rhoades.

This year’s homecoming queen was announced after all ten girls walked down the track, through a column formed by the marching band’s color guard and majorettes.

Emily Lawrence, Mahanoy City, was announced before a host of cheers, and subsequently crowned by Rhoades.
