MAHANOY CITY – The borough has another full-time police officer, after council voted unanimously for the hire at their regular meeting on February 13.

Council hired Rachael Lenar, who has seven years of police experience with municipalities across Schuylkill and Luzerne Counties.

“The hiring of Officer Lenar is just another example of the dedication and commitment of our elected officials who provide the tools and resources, which allow the police to give the quality police service that the community truly deserves,” said Chief Kenneth Zipovsky.

Lenar, a 2010 graduate of the Lackawanna College Police Academy, is certified in Crisis Intervention Team Training, and, according to Mahanoy City Police, is the first full-time female officer in over two decades.
