Mahanoy woman suffers minor injury in rollover crash

MAHANOY TOWNSHIP – A Mahanoy City woman suffered a cut foot after she spun and rolled her Chevy Cavalier earlier today.

The crash occurred on Delano Road in the area of Glendon Road just before 2:00pm this afternoon in Mahanoy Township.

A 2003 Chevy Cavalier, driven by 20-year-old Kaitlyn Miersky, of Mahanoy City, was headed northbound toward Delano “at an apparent high rate of speed,” according to State Police at Frackville.

At a rise in the road and slight right-hand corner, the vehicle spun, struck a roadside embankment and a tree, then rolled, coming to a rest on the northbound shoulder over 300 feet from where the crash began.

Miersky was seatbelted and no airbag deployed. She suffered a cut foot though refused medical treatment at the scene.

The Cavalier was severely damaged and towed from the scene.

According to troopers, Miersky will be cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

Firefighters and an EMS crew from Mahanoy City responded to the scene as well as State Police.
