SHEPPTON – A longtime public servant will be on the board of supervisors for East Union Township come January.

Kyle Mummey, a member of the township planning commission and Sheppton-Oneida’s fire chief, defeated incumbent John Biros in Tuesday’s election.

Unofficial results Tuesday night showed Mummey had received 457 votes to Biros’ 200. One write-in vote was tallied in the campaign.

In a Facebook post Tuesday night, Mummey congratulated Biros for his service to East Union Township.

“His service is a testimony to his character and we cannot thank him enough,” Mummey wrote.
“This election was not about narrow values that divide us but common values that unite us,” Mummey added. “We are a Community of citizens that work together for common goals. I will fight and work for you with every ounce of energy that I have!”
