No injuries reported in midday Gold Star crash

TURKEY RUN – No one was injured after a midday crash near the Gold Star Plaza in the Turkey Run section of the borough which left two vehicles disabled.

According to State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred around noon at the intersection of the Gold Star Highway and Gold Star Plaza, when two vehicles collided in the intersection.

Troopers said a Toyota Yaris, driven by Alan Shinkus, 70, of Frackville, was headed northbound on the Gold Star Highway, and used the left turn lane to enter Gold Star Plaza.

When Shinkus made the turn, a Ford Focus, driven by Vincent Anthony, 25, of Minersville, was headed southbound on the highway and collided with the right side Shinkus’ Yaris, which spun 180 degrees.

Shinkus, Anthony, and Yessica Serrana, 21, of Shenandoah, a passenger in Anthony’s Focus, all were seatbelted and uninjured in the crash. Multiple airbags deployed in bth vehicles

Both vehicles were severely damaged and towed from the scene.

According to troopers, both drivers will face traffic citations after the crash.
