One injured in Shenandoah vehicle accident

SHENANDOAH – A passenger was injured after a vehicle struck a parked truck and a utility pole on the west end Sunday afternoon.

According to Shenandoah Police, around 4:00pm, a Chevrolet Equinox was travelling northbound on South Gilbert Street when the vehicles brakes failed.

To avoid travelling into the West Centre Street intersection, police said, the driver struck a parked GMC truck and a utility pole at the intersection of South Gilbert and West New York.

A passenger was injured, and transported via Shenandoah Ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Schuylkill East in Pottsville.

No other injuries were reported.

South Gilbert Street from New York to Oak was closed for half an hour while the vehicle was removed.

Assisting Shenandoah Police and EMS was Steve’s Towing.
