One taken to hospital after West Centre crash

SHENANDOAH – One person was taken to a local hospital for evaluation after a crash this morning at West Centre and Chestnut.

The crash occurred just before 8:30am Monday.

A Jeep Compass travelling north from South Chestnut Street struck the right front of a passing Chevy Malibu. The Jeep suffered minor visible damage, while the Chevy had more significant damage.

The driver of the Chevy, an elderly woman, was evaluated by Shenandoah Ambulance and taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The driver of the Jeep was uninjured.

Both cars were able to be removed from the scene without the need of a towing service.

Firefighters from Shenandoah’s Columbia and Rescue Hook and Ladder fire companies responded along with Shenandoah Police and Shenandoah Ambulance.

West Centre Street from Gilbert to West was closed for about 20 minutes.
