Penn State Schuylkill to hold LionLaunch information session in Shenandoah

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN – The Penn State Schuylkill LionLaunch initiative invites interested, fledgling entrepreneurs to a public informational meeting Jan. 30. The program will begin at 6 p.m. at the Schuylkill Historical Fire Society Headquarters, located at 105 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah, PA.

The purpose of this public event is to present information on the LionLaunch initiative to individuals in the northern region of Schuylkill County, directing special attention to the upcoming Business Plan Competition. Through this program, potential entrepreneurs will be able to apply for up to $5,000 in seed funding to start or grow their own businesses. There will be a brief presentation followed by a question and answer session.

The Business Plan Competition is scheduled for March 1, 6 p.m. at Penn State Schuylkill and applications to participate in the competition are due by Feb. 20, 2017

A great deal of support has been offered by Downtown Shenandoah, Inc.; Kent Steinmetz, owner of the Cooper Center and Penn State Schuylkill alum; the Schuylkill Historical Fire Society; and local news media. In addition, community partners that have joined Penn State Schuylkill in recognizing the LionLaunch efforts from the initial institution of the program include Berks and Schuylkill County SCORE, Schuylkill Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO), Pottsville Area Development Corporation (PADCO), Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce, Northeast PA Manufacturers and Employers Association and Schuylkill County’s Vision.
