SHENANDOAH - Today marked the 33rd Annual Father Walter Ciszek Day, which was celebrated with a 2pm Mass at the Saint Casimir Church, 231 North Jardin Street.
Prior to the mass, the Father Walter Ciszek Prayer League held an open house for their new center, located at 218 West Cherry Street.
Reverend Brian Van Hove, S.J., served as guest homilist for the mass. In his collegiate years at Fordham University, Hove knew Ciszek, and spoke of his memories of the Shenandoah native priest held captive in Soviet Russia.
Saint Casimir's Church was the home church for Ciszek, whose cause for canonization is being investigated in the Catholic Church.
