Police respond to reported fight in a Shenandoah street

SHENANDOAH – Police officers from multiple northern Schuylkill departments responded to a report of multiple persons fighting in the street on South Main Street near Laurel Street around midnight Sunday.

​According to Shenandoah Police, officers were dispatched for the report and found the altercation occurring between roughly five people, and officers from Frackville, Mahanoy City, Mahanoy Township, West Mahanoy Township, and Ashland then responded.

The altercation was broken up by officers and relatives of those involved, and at least two were detained.

Those detained were released at the scene, and none were taken into custody at the time, though charges will be filed at a later date, according to police.

South Main Street was down to one lane while officers were at the scene.
