Shenandoah fire damages East Oak home, displaces four

SHENANDOAH – Fire damaged a double-block home on East Oak Street Saturday afternoon, displacing four residents.

The fire broke out just after 2:00pm in a duplex at 110-112 East Oak Street, bringing fire crews from Shenandoah’s five fire companies, as well as Mahanoy City’s West End Fire Company.

Firefighters had the fire under control by 2:45pm, and were clear of the scene shortly after.

According to Fire Marshal Rick Examitas, the fire was ruled accidental, and damage was contained mostly to 110, with minimal damage to 112.

Two adults and two children were displaced, and are being assisted by the American Red Cross, and no injuries were reported.

Assisting Shenandoah firefighters at the scene were Shenandoah and Frackville Ambulance, PP&L Electric Utilites, the American Red Cross, and Shenandoah Police.
