SHEPPTON – Sheppton-Oneida firefighters were dispatched to an area just south of the village of Sheppton, alongside Route 924, on Thursday for reports of a brush fire just after 4:30pm.

Fire crews reported three separate brush fires upon arrival, and a brush crew from Ringtown Valley, along with a tanker from Harwood, Luzerne County, were dispatched to the scene, both being cancelled en route.

Firefighters had the bulk of the fire, which was on the ridge on the south side of Route 924, extinguished within a short time after arrival, and were clear of the scene in under an hour.

During the incident, traffic along Route 924 was reduced to a single lane.
