SHENANDOAH – Smoke alarms alerted a Shenandoah family to a stove fire Wednesday evening, which fire officials said led to the best case scenario.

Firefighters from Shenandoah and Mahanoy City’s West End Fire Company were called to an apartment building at 237 East Coal Street around 7:30pm for reports of a building fire.

Crews from Shenandoah’s five fire companies arrived on scene promptly, finding a smoke condition in an apartment on an upper floor of the building.

No injuries were reported and the fire was contained to the stove. Thanks to working smoke alarms, the family was able to escape promptly.

Assisting at the scene were Shenandoah Police, Shenandoah Fire Police, West Mahanoy Township Police, and Shenandoah Ambulance.
