Tamaqua woman falls out of car after door malfunctions

HARWOOD, Luzerne County – ​A Tamaqua woman suffered non life threatening injuries when she fell out of a moving car after a passenger door malfunctioned on Route 924 near Harwood yesterday.

According to State Police at Hazleton, the incident happened just before 3:00pm east of the I-81 ramp on the CanDo Expressway, Route 924, near Harwood.

Kayla Hoover, 28, of Tamaqua was riding with driver Richard Michlovsky, 58, of Tamaqua in a 2001 Volvo S40, headed towards Sheppton, when troopers say the passenger side door malfunctioned.

Hoover, unbuckled, fell out and suffered non life threatening injuries. Michlovsky stopped the car and drove Hoover to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Hazleton, where she was treated.

Michlovsky will be cited for speeding, troopers added.
