Two arrested on bench warrants after Mahanoy City street fight

MAHANOY CITY – Two Mahanoy City residents are behind bars on bench warrants after the two fought on the borough’s east side.

According to Mahanoy City Police, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of East Mahanoy Avenue around 3:00pm Wednesday for reports of a fight in the street.

When officers arrived, Joshua Mooney, 30, and Joshua Derk, 28, both of Mahanoy City, were taken into custody.

The two were subsequently transported to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville, both wanted on bench warrants.

Mooney is facing charges of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, while Derk faces charges of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct.

All charges were filed by Patrolman Thomas Rentschler.
