ENGLEWOOD – Two women were found dead in a home in the Englewood section of Butler Township Thursday morning.

The two were found around 11:00am Thursday at a home at 10 South Fifth Street, just across the Frackville borough/Butler Township line in Englewood.

According to Deputy Coroner Andrew Szczyglak, the two were pronounced dead at the scene around 11:30am.

Troopers identified the two as Christine Moran, 54, and Josephine Kodis, 97.

The two were reportedly found after a wellness check was called after mail began to pile up at the residence.

According to Trooper David Beohm, Pennsylvania State Police Troop L public information officer, investigators from his troop were at the scene Thursday conducting a death investigation at the home.

Though the incident was a block west of the borough line, Frackville Police Chief Rick Bell said his officers were assisting at the scene.

“At this point it is still being considered an active crime scene,” Bell said Thursday afternoon.

As of 3:00pm Thursday, Fifth Street from Route 61 to Frack was closed for the investigation, and the home was roped off with police tape.

An autopsy will be conducted on the two to determine a cause of death, troopers said.

No further information was released as of Thursday afternoon.

Butler Township Police also assisted at the scene.
