RINGTOWN - The former educational hub of the Ringtown Valley will soon have a new owner.
At their June meeting of borough council, Ringtown approved the sale of the Ringtown Area Elementary Center, which the borough has owned since the school's closure in 2009.
One bid was received for the school, from Omsai Com, LLC, of Chantilly, Virginia, for $109,000.
The school was advertised for sale in April, then re-advertised in May after no bids were received.
"It's been off the tax rolls for many years," said council president Julian Milewski at the May meeting. "We'll sell the building, and get it back on the tax rolls."
The school has sat vacant since 2009, when the North Schuylkill School District moved its valley students to Fountain Springs. The building reverted to borough ownership in 2010. Prior to the formation of the North Schuylkill School District, the building served as Ringtown's high school.
